Do you know this poem by Grant Colfax Tullar?
My life is but a weaving
between by God and me;
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.
Oft' times He weaveth sorrow
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.
Not 'til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.
The dark threads area as needful
in the Weaver's skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.

Bob and I both have some medical issues going on. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom on for us and especially for the medical personnel involved. Details will follow when decisions are made. Until then, appreciate what you can see of the weaving of your life that is between your God and you. I like the part about “I cannot choose the colors. He works steadily.”
Pastor Bob Gerhardt tried his best to teach me that control IS indeed an illusion. I might be embracing that teaching much more today than when he first introduced it to me.
What a beautiful poem. We all need to accept the fact that control is an illusion. It becomes all the more evident as I age and watch others aging. May we lean all the more on our Lord and accept the grace and peace he offers and thank him daily for the hope we have in him.
